Julia Eccleshare's comment

Best-selling Australian author/ illustrator Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton have created a fantastical treehouse which will tickle the imagination of all readers. It’s a house with everything – and if there is something it lacks, it can easily be created! The guys are full of crazy and inventive ideas some of which have very unexpected and disastrous results. When Andy and Terry aren’t having fun in their tree house doing terrible things like turning their neighbour’s cat into a canary they are meant to be writing a book! The jokes about the book being created within a book are good. ~ Julia Eccleshare

13-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths

Andy and Terry live in the WORLD'S BEST treehouse! It's got a giant catapult, a secret underground laboratory, a tank of man-eating sharks and a marshmallow machine that follows you around and shoots marshmallows into your mouth whenever you're hungry! Just watch out for the sea monkeys, and the monkeys pretending to be sea monkeys, and the giant mutant mermaid sea monster ...Oh, and, whatever you do, don't get trapped in a burp-gas-filled bubble ...!

The story follows Andy and Terry's crazy adventures in their treehouse as they try to write a book, and is told through a combination of text and fantastic cartoon-style illustrations.

Macmillan Children’s Books are thrilled to be publishing the growing phenomenon that is the Treehouse series. A number one bestseller in Australia, with nearly half a million copies sold so far, the series is set to branch out in 2015 and take the UK by storm.  The 13-Storey Treehouse is the perfect book for fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Brilliant World of Tom Gates and Barry Loser.  Packed with hilarious cartoons and zany text, this book will leaf readers in stitches and begging for more.

Longtime collaborators Griffiths and Denton (Killer Koalas from Outer Space) get metafictional in their latest book (first published in Australia), and the result is anarchic absurdity at its best... Denton's manic cartooning captures every twist and turn in hilarious detail, as babies are pelted with garbage, yapping dogs squashed, and monkeys catapulted into the distance. A sequel was published last year in Australia and can't arrive soon enough. -- Publishers Weekly
